Days 31-36

Oct 4th Day 31 on the road I got up early to finish packing up my bike and also cause I had a hour an half ride from Panama City to the port city of Colon.  So woke up Martin was already up getting breakfast grab a bite to eat with him and then we pulled the bikes out of his garage and got my bags loaded up on her.  Well since now Betty is sitting higher with new tires and we stiffened up the suspension real good Betty is real top heavy so now she doesnt stand at all on her 3rd leg she instantly wants to fall over.  So martin try to find a quick fix for me cause at this moment we were supposed to be on the road meeting up with Chris about 30 mins away. We try to come up with something but nothing worked so the easy remedy for the time crunch we had was that Martin gave me a wooden block that put Betty more upright.  We rode 30 mins to meet with Chris who grab his other bike for the morning ride the 90T I

never saw one of these things in person but god damn thats a nice bike.  Anyways met with him and we continued on our morning ride towards Colon.  Arrived just in time because not to long later we were loading the bikes up on top of the cateraman named Jaqueline.  There was another motorcycle rider from costa rica name Rojulio who was also on his way south for 7 months on a Honda 400.  His bike went on first and honestly thought after seeing the guys struggle they were going to have a hell of a lot harder time with mine.  Well I unloaded the bags off of Betty and they must of learned a trick cause my bike went on a lot easier.  The captain told us to come back at 1230 and thats when we will board the ship. So I had 2 n half hours to kill so walked into town as most guys getting on the boat were loaded up with beer and since I didnt have any ride to do the same I figured I go on the hunt for some.  Well I would be quickly disappointed because some X President of Panama died so therefor no damn store sold booze because of the cunt.  So I came back to the port like a sad doggy waiting to board the boat.  Finally it was time a group of like 8 loaded onto a dingy that took them to the boat then came back for us another group of 8 which one guy Roscoe started IMG_3056chatting it up with me.  We bullshit on our way to the boat he was from Holland and was traveling 2 months with his GF so became friends with a him right away he help me with my bags loading them down in the hole and not to long after we were finally in open sea heading to our first San Blas Islands while everyone started drinking away.  A older lady named Denise (who come to find out was 61 traveling by herself from australia) offered me some of her alcohol after finding out I was not able to get anything to drink on land.  So started having a drink of vodka with her an carried on a conversation together on where and what I am coming from as well as her who has been traveling I think for 6 months now but when she started only had plans of going for 3 months.  4hrs of time past and before we knew it we were in between a island and mainland panama.  We ate dinner

and then loaded up on the dingy and headed to the first San Blas Island.  Arrived on land and come to find out the locals called Kuna drank all the beer so they had nothing to serve us but we could head back over to mainland to drink.  So we ride for like 15mins from the island to mainland on the dingy which was now filling up awful quick with a lot of water.  I honestly didnt think we were going to make it to land cause at this point the dingy was almost to my knee deep in flooded water.  We get out and to the bar but come to realize they only have a few beers as well I end up buying a bottle of vodka while other people scrape up there last beers.  We hang out for awhile where I meet this guy from south africa 28 who has been sailing for 3yrs pretty much by himself.  Him and I chatted it up for a bit but before we knew it the bar was out of booze and most were ready to get back to the boat.  So as the group that witness the dingy

almost sinking thought fuck that thing the south african guy mentioned he could take a few people on his dingy to the boat.  So we made it to the boat safely and he ask for one of my business cards gave him a few while the dingy to the caterman was just now arriving.  We load up turn on the speaker and partied for while most went into sleep while this 18yr old girl from switzerland who been traveling for a few weeks Adam from Aus who been traveling for a few months and me stayed up the whole night on the front of the boat just talking and drinking. Day 32 arrived at the immigration island out at sea to get all of our passports stamped out at like 8am an then rolled into the next island. At this point I killed my bottle of vodka so after lunch I get to land and start buying up the beers that the local Kuna are selling.  ( now kuna are like the indigenous people of panama who from what im told just live by there own rules government really doesnt control them even though the islands are still somewhat a part of

panama)  So I buy some beers and play volleyball with a group of people.  The time seemed to fly and soon enough we were back on the boat eating dinner and then setting sail yet again.  I again fell asleep out on the front of the boat. Day 33 we arrive to the middle of sea that is shallow to just hang out drink and a few of us guys (holland, australia england and I)  played some volley for a good while before making the swim back to the boat and heading to the island for the night.  We arrived at a Island which we were told was one of the wealthiest San Blas islands cause a bunch of cocaine washed up there. (and i was told if its thrown in the sea for whatever reason its consider Kuna property)  So a bunch of people dabble in doing legal cocaine and marijuana while drinking in which im sure the island made a lot of money cause I spent 50$ a lone here on 2$ beers here.  Partied for a good while then

headed back on the boat.  I almost pulled another all night with Rowan who was friends with Adam but lives in New Zealand but we both passed out in the trampoline of the cateraman just before sunrise. Day 34 arrived at our final island of the trip before lunch time while most of the people were not almost out of alcohol but Adam from Aus randomly opened up a small compartment up in his room and found a bottle of rum that someone must of left behind from a previous trip on the boat.  So Adam Rowan and I started to finishing up that bottle just before lunch.  When 2 girls from New Zealand then offered us there left over bottle of Vodka which we quickly agreed YES on.  Ate some lunch and then asked this guy Chris from Aus if he sell one of his bottles which he had no problems with so began going it and at this point Roscoe jumped in on the final drink or two from the bottle. Who we made find us out next bottle but came back

with just a bottle of White wine that none of us had a problem drinking.  We were at this point sailing to one more surprise island where we would eat lobster for the night.   Bert decided to come out once again for the final party so when we arrived there and manage to get some more liquor from someone. Get on the island and instantly buy some more beers as im going to buy beers the local Kuna had a bunch of cocaine he was putting in small bags to sell.   Some again bought the cocaine and the weed and us boys  decided to drink them all out of beer after the lobster dinner so by midnight we were back on the boat and had a full day an half of sailing in open sea in which no one was allowed to drink cause the current at open sea was supposedly 4knots (which no idea what the fuck that means).  We actually knew this from day one thats why most people were getting rid of there liquor beer an whatever else they had earlier that day.  This also meant no one could be up front of the boat during the night time. So I finally made it to my bed for the first time.  Woke up early as shit cause I was sweating my dick off in the little room. I get up go outside and pass back out on the front of the boat now that sun was coming up.  I woke up just before lunch feeling like death not sure if it was being hungover or was I sea sick but i crawled to the side of the cateraman not many people walked cause thats the side of where the bikes were tied down to and didnt leave room for a foot path.  Rolled on over there an puked for like 2hrs and then fell back asleep again.  After everyone was done with lunch the captain Andre told me to go inside and just lay down with my eyes closed its better than being by the sea looking off of the edge.  So I went inside and literally layed all day long with my eyes closed every once in awhile opening them to hear people walk by or to grab more water.  Day 36 we are to arrive in cartagena colombia originally but of course yesterday while i was in and out of consciousness come to

find out the one motor on the boat broke so there only using one motor but can only use it for so long and there is no wind to just to sail.  So while we were supposed to arrive after lunch in cartagena we end up arriving 2hrs south of that in a town called covenas at 8 at night.  There was not even a dock there so we arrived liked cubans in the night.  Loaded up in a dingy pulled up to land and got off no immigration nothing. Checked into a hotel ate some street food where I talked with Rowan and the others and they were all sick as fuck as well yesterday so I guess I didnt miss to much after all.  After we eat some street food majority of us just called it a night cause we were all happy to be back on land in a hotel even though the hotel was far from good.
